Disney on Ice
Dare to Dream

Feld Entertainment approached me with an exciting opportunity to craft a captivating and inspiring Production Design for their latest ice show, Dare to Dream, featuring three beloved Disney classics: Cinderella, Tangled, and my personal favorite, The Princess and the Frog, please don't tell the others! I was also tasked with creating a breathtaking finale that intertwined elements from Tangled with the Cinderella set, celebrating the enchanting new princess, Rapunzel.
To bring this vision to life, I was asked to utilize a grand, existing rotating set unit that Feld had in storage. Just two weeks after receiving the initial call, the "White Model" presentation was scheduled, and I was eager to dive in. I traveled to the Feld workshop to work on-site, ensuring I met the tight deadline. I requested access to the original 1" = 1'-0" scale model and asked the shop team to strip away all previous designs, leaving only the framework of platforms, stairs, and entrances to and from the archways.
With this foundation, I sketched the design elements onto Bristol board, meticulously cut them out, and affixed them to the model base. This hands-on approach was rather down and dirty, but it effectively communicated my vision, allowing everyone in the white model meeting to grasp the scale and intricate details of my Production Design. Once my concept received the green light, I moved forward with detailed sketches, paint elevations, and designs for the additional scenic units.
Below, you'll find striking images of my drawings, paint elevations, the working white model, and captivating photos that showcase this extraordinary family entertainment—truly fit for a Princess!
